Web Design

I absolutely love 90's and early 2000's web design. Something about the personal, hand-coded vibe that all of the websites had was really pleasing to me!

Of course, given my age, I never really lived through that time period - my childhood was more-so the vBulletin and phpBB days, heh.

That being said, the Geocities sites of yore inspired the basic web design of this website!

Design Ethos

My goal is to have this site be as lightweight and easy to render as possible, while still looking nice on the phone screens and mobile devices of our modern era.

I source almost all of my background images from various period-correct sources around the web - mainly on the Internet Archive and Geocities Archives, but also occasionally from live sites!

The CSS library I use is called terminal.css, and was made by the wonderful Gioni06 over on GitHub.

Image Sources

Below, I've made a table of all of the various background images in use on this site, along with where they were originally found.

I hope this acts as a fun archive of late 90's and early 2000's web design culture.
